ENJOYMENT TIPS & TRICKS
Tip # 1: Quality Matters
The quality of both the water and the coffee will affect your final brew. Use filtered water if possible. Our specialty-grade coffee will always meet the high-quality criteria!
Tip #2: Consume Sooner Rather Than Later
To experience your coffee at its freshest and most flavorful, aim to brew it within 3–4 weeks (21–28 days) of receiving it. Enjoy your coffee soon after brewing, ideally within an hour, to capture its best flavors and aromas!
Tip #3: Select The Right Bean Grind
Choosing the correct grind size is crucial for your brewing method. We make this a breeze by offering four different types of grinds! Check out our quick two-step reference clip or the more detailed guide in the section below.
Tip #4: Mind Its Storage
Store coffee beans or grinds in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. This preserves their freshness longer! Avoid the fridge as it can introduce moisture and odors. A cool, dark pantry is ideal.
Tip #5: Use Good Water
The quality of water used has a SIGNIFICANT impact on your coffee's taste. After all, it represents 99% of the liquid in your cup! Use fresh, cold water that is filtered or free of impurities. Avoid distilled or softened water to maintain the coffee's complete flavor profile.
Tip #6: Brew At The Right Temperature:
Brew Hot: Ideal water temperature for brewing most coffee is between 195°F to 205°F (just below boiling). If the water is too cold, you run the risk of under-extraction, and the coffee may end up weak or sour. Similarly, if the water is too hot, you run the risk of over-extraction, leaving the coffee bitter. The following temperature ranges offer a bit more precision based on your coffee's roast level: Light Roast (199–205°F), Medium Roast (194–200°F), Dark Roast (188–194°F or cooler).
Brew Cold: Cold brew uses water well below the higher temperatures, typically used to make hot-brewed or iced coffee. It is generally made using room-temperature water (around 68°F or 20°C). This temperature eliminates acidity and brings out the coffee's sweetness and body.
Tip #7: Serve In A Pre-Warmed Cup Or Mug/Pre-Chilled Cup:
Hot Coffee: Pre-warm your cup or mug before pouring coffee into it, especially if making espresso or when the environment is cold. This prevents the coffee from cooling too quickly and helps maintain its flavor profile and aroma. To pre-warm a cup, you can simply pour boiling water into it and let it sit for a couple of minutes!
Cold Brew or Iced Coffee: Pre-chill your cup before pouring coffee into it, especially if making a cold brew or iced coffee or when the environment is warm. This prevents the coffee from warming up too quickly and helps maintain its respective flavor profile and aroma. To pre-chill a cup, simply place the glass in the freezer for 15 minutes, put it upside down in an ice bucket, or fill it with ice before covering it with water!
Tip #8: Clean & Maintain Your Equipment:
Regular cleaning of your coffee maker (and grinder if applicable) is essential to avoid the buildup of coffee oils and residue, which can impact taste. Rinse removable parts with warm, soapy water (daily). Clean the coffee maker with a mix of water and vinegar to descale and remove mineral deposits (weekly). Finally, all equipment components must be deeply cleaned and checked for any wear and tear (monthly). Lastly, be sure to properly clean your equipment before switching to a new coffee.

SELECTING THE RIGHT BEAN GRIND
Understanding the right grind size is essential for unlocking the full potential of your coffee. Explore the options below to elevate your coffee experience!
Option #1: Fine Grind
Texture: Similar to table salt or almost powdery
Best For: Espresso Machine, Turkish Coffee, Moka Pot & AeroPress
Why: Enables quick extraction and complete immersion, capturing the rich, concentrated flavors of espresso and a strong, full-bodied cup
Option #2: Medium/Drip Grind
Texture: Like sand or finer (but not as fine as table salt)
Best For: Automatic Drip Coffee Machine, Pour-Over, & Siphon
Why: Provides an even, controlled, and steady extraction for a balanced flavor profile and highlights complex flavors
Option #3: Coarse Grind
Texture: Similar to sea salt or slightly finer
Best For: Cold Brew, French Press, Chemex & Percolator/Urn
Why: Allows for a slow extraction time that is balanced with flow rate, reducing bitterness, enhancing smoothness, and ensuring a clean and crisp cup
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY YOUR COFFEE IS "SPECIALTY GRADE?"
Specialty-grade coffee represents the pinnacle of coffee quality. Cultivated in optimal conditions with ideal weather and nutrient-rich soil, it undergoes meticulous processing and expert roasting. The result is an exceptionally flavorful cup of coffee, virtually free from defects.
Unlike marketing terms like "gourmet coffee" and "premium coffee," specialty-grade coffee is a regulated distinction and recognized category of coffee in and of itself.
Coffee is evaluated based on various criteria such as appearance, aroma, flavor, acidity, body, and aftertaste. The maximum possible score is 100 points, with coffees scoring 80 points or higher classified as specialty grade.
At Wonder Waves Coffee, all of our coffee offerings are specialty grade!
IS YOUR COFFEE FAIRTRADE CERTIFIED?
Fairtrade Certified coffee is produced following strict standards that ensure sustainable livelihoods, safe working conditions, environmental protection, and transparent, robust supply chains.
We're undergoing the extensive onboarding process and are pleased to say that we'll officially include Fairtrade Certified coffee as part of our offerings by July 2024!
That being said, and formal certification aside, all our coffee has always been, remains, and will forever be sustainably sourced and ethically traded.
DO YOU TEST YOUR COFFEE FOR MOLD AND MYCOTOXINS?
Our FDA-registered and and FSMA-compliant roasting partner monitors each bag from farm to finish, ensuring mold-free green coffee. Roasting kills any potential mold, so we don't specifically test for mold or mycotoxins post-roast.
With our roasted-to-order coffee and immediate direct shipping, you can trust our coffee is among the safest specialty coffee available!
IS YOUR COFFEE ORGANIC?
Although not all of the coffee growers we work with and source from are formally certified organic, some are! In fact, at the moment, about 50% of our coffee offerings are certified organic.
Our formally-certified organic coffees have this designation specified in the product description as well as their ingredient listing, and are certified organic at the farm level.
While our coffee isn't formally certified as kosher, it adheres to all the necessary requirements typically associated with kosher foods.
Our coffee is purely sourced and prepared with the utmost care, ensuring that it meets the standards that would classify it as kosher under traditional guidelines. We use specialty-grade beans and avoid any additives or processes that could compromise its compliance with kosher practices.
If you have specific kosher certification needs or questions, we recommend consulting with your rabbi or religious advisor to ensure our coffee meets your requirements.
ARE THERE ANY SUGARS OR ADDITIVES IN YOUR COFFEE?
No, we don't add sugar to any of our specialty-grade coffee, whether single-origin or blended.
In fact, all of our coffee is pure and unadulterated, without any additives, unnatural flavors, or hidden ingredients!
Shipping & Freshness
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY YOUR COFFEE IS "ROASTED TO ORDER?"
"Roasted to order" means we don't start roasting your coffee until you place an order with us. You heard that right—your coffee is prepared JUST for you!
You will NEVER (and we mean never) receive coffee from us that has already been roasted and sitting on a shelf or in a warehouse.
Bottom Line: No coffee you order from us is roasted before the order is placed!
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY COFFEE ORDER TO ARRIVE?
All our coffee is shipped to arrive just as it reaches PEAK flavor.
Domestic orders generally take 1-3 business days to process and roast before shipping out. Once shipped, delivery takes about 1-5 business days, depending on your location.
This means you should expect to receive your fresh coffee in approximately a week, if not sooner!
DO YOU OFFER FREE SHIPPING?

We offer 100% FREE shipping to all 50 U.S. states on orders $39 or more and $3.99 FLAT shipping on all other domestic orders, no matter the product, the number of items in your cart, or the shipping destination.

DO YOU OFFER EXPEDITED SHIPPING?
We don't offer expedited shipping for three key reasons:
• We feel it often sets unrealistic expectations and we don't want to lead you astray.
• Avoiding extra charges for you and keeping them at bay is important to us.
• Most importantly, our standard process allows for your freshly roasted coffee to de-gas in transit (this starts immediately after the roasting process) which ensures your coffee arrives at peak flavor!
Returns & Exchanges
WHAT IS YOUR COFFEE'S RETURN POLICY? CAN I EXCHANGE MY COFFEE ORDER?
Because coffee is a perishable product and because our coffee is roasted to order especially for YOU, it cannot be returned (unless we've specifically requested a return in writing).
However, if your order was incorrect or damaged in transit, you were dissatisfied with your coffee, have questions about how to brew it, or have general concerns about its quality, our Coffee Crew is standing by to help!

I ORDERED THE WRONG COFFEE, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!
If you just placed your order and/or your coffee has NOT shipped (i.e., you haven't received a shipping notification email yet), please email us immediately at splash@wonderwavescoffee.com and we should be able to fish out and cancel your order in time so that you may place a new one.
If your coffee has already shipped or was delivered and either an error was made or you aren't happy with the coffee, please email us so we can make it right!
However, since coffee is a perishable product, we CANNOT accept any coffee returns.
